A Year Ago Today

A year ago today my youngest son David Reeves preached this message for our church's summer camp chapel service.

He was only 18 at the time but what an insight to what was about to unfold here at North Platte Baptist Church. Since this message we have seen what we considered good families make tragic choices with their lives. They actually proved every point of his message true. It was almost like they used it as a blue print and instruction manuel to destroy their ministries, friendships, church memberships and today we can clearly see that their families have suffered dearly. They have lost homes, destroyed their credit as well as their testimony as a Christian. Two families have seen the wives leave their husbands. A single mother got pregnant out of wedlock again and then was in a tragic motorcycle accident. Investments of time and money have been wasted. Children's lives have been destroyed. Today some of those same people refer to North Platte Baptist Church as a cult and me as a cult leader. All I can say is that I love them and wish they would stop and compare my influence and its effect on them while here to what they now have since making their choices.

Let this message challenge you and warn you to be very careful not to serve man but to serve God!

Chapel Monday 2015.

How far do you want to go?

How many of you want to serve God?

You want to do right and serve God, but the real question is how far do you want to go in serving God?

The truth is there are countless Christians serving God but they are not serving God with a level up attitude.
It's easy to say you serve God. It's a whole lot harder to do it and to prove it. The Old Testament is an amazing part of the Bible because it gives us so many examples of doing right and wrong.

What are the attributes of a person who will not go far.

I Samuel 15:3-9

1. You will outright disobey your Pastor.

You see Saul wanted to serve God, but he also wanted to do what he wanted to do.
The same is true with you.

You will disobey Pastor because YOU think...

Monetary gain- you think it will benefit you.

2. You will outright lie.
VS. 13

Saul wanted to look good even though he disobeyed. He DID perform some of the commandment of the Lord.
You lie to make yourself look good.

3. You will get an outright bitter attitude.
VS. 20

Saul did not repent and take the responsibility.

You will not take the responsibility. You will shift the blame and find ways to point fingers. The truth is you are the way you are because of YOU.

4. You will get outright rejected from serving God like you should.
VS. 26

Saul was useless to God as a King.
You will be useless to God as a full time Christian servant.

You're not going to go far.

How do you go far in service to God?

Plus- REPENT IMMEDIATELY!!

On April 26, 2003, climber Aron Ralston was negotiating a slot canyon in Utah when an 800-pound (360-kilogram) boulder fell and crushed his right hand, trapping him. He tried to shift the rock using ropes and chipped away at it with his blunt multi-tool, but nothing worked. By day four, Ralston had run out of water, so he saw only one option: to amputate his own arm. First, he broke both bones in his arm; then he sawed through the soft tissue, arteries, tendons and, most painfully, the nerves.

It's your decision how far your going to go.
